NATIONAL DIRECTORS REPORT
Evelyn MerrillI arrived in Redmond, Oregon on Friday, August 13, 2004 to a very warm reception. Temperatures in the hlgh 90's and before we left it topped out at 113 degrees.
On Saturday 8/14/04 and Sunday 8/15/04 I attended the National Directors Forum. It was an educational seminar for new Directors and any one interested in becoming a National Director. 25% of this year’s Board consisted of Alternate National Directors or a temporary deligate.
Sunday afternoon I attended the Candidates Forum. All the candidates running for national office addressed the membership and answered questions.
Monday August 16,2004 the FMCA Governing Board meeting convened. There were 369 chapters represented (or 75%) at the morning session. 374 chapter representatives (or 77%) attending the afternoon session.
The Treasurer’s report and the 2005 budget of $15,922,129.00 were approved.
The Constitution and Bylaw, Policy and Proceedures Committee proposed bylaw ammendments. They would change the terms of office for President, Senior Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Area Vice President. If this change is approved the President and Senior Vice President will be limited to 1 two year term. The Secretary, Treasurer and Area VP would be able to serve 2 two year terms.
The Education Committee feels FMCA should promote awareness and educate their members on the use of the automated external defibrillators. It was also recommended that a pilot program be developed for key safety personnel. Purchase of an automated external defibrillator was referred to the Executive Board.
It was recommended that copies of the RVIA video on safe driving of over-length coaches be sent to all the Area VPs and Chapter Presidents. The Monico Corporation has been asked to provide the videos.
Member Benefits: the Medex Evacuation Coverage will Be extended in its present form for the calendar years 2005 and 2006 at a guaranteed rate of $4.00 per member per year. The Deductable and Coinsurance Reimbursement coverage will be cancelled on January 1, 2005 with prior notice to the membership.
There were 3803 family coaches attending the rally with a total of 130 children. Display coaches, 1109.
