FIRST ANNUAL GRANITE STATERS
FLORIDA RALLY
JAN. 30TH -- FEB. 2ND 2004

"WHEREVER WE GO, WE HAVE FUN"

Thirty plus Granite Stater member coaches, including several new members who joined with us for the occasion, gathered at the Red Barn Campground in Bushnell, Florida for a winter rally prior to the Southeast Area FMCA Rally.

We observed our customary rally traditions of morning coffee and afternoon social hour during the three full days of the rally. Pastries for the morning get-together were obtained from the Wal-Mart Supercenter across the street ("No Overnight Parking"), and members provided coffee for the coffeemaker and a toaster for the bagels. The campground's mobile home residents graciously offered their Recreation Hall for our Saturday social hour because of the heavy rain.

On Super Bowl Sunday, the social hour became a pizza party. Hungry Howie's delivered an assortment of pizzas, which we all enjoyed around an outside compartment TV as we waited for the kickoff. I missed seeing Janet Jackson's "Revelation", however vivid descriptions were offered by those who did not.

Bucky and Larry Adams did a great job of forming the caravan for the trip down I-75 to Brooksville. We moved out with 37 coaches promptly at 8:00 Monday morning for the 45-minute trip to the "Seafari" at the Hernando County Airfield. Not a coach was lost!

Since Social Directors President Bruce and Anne Brown had a motorhome problem, they missed the Red Barn Rally and did not arrive at the airport until Tuesday evening; Artie O'Neill was unanimously elected by acclamation as Acting President. We were all glad to see the Brown's motorhome making its way down the runway.

Thanks to co-host Betty Robicheau for her help in planning and heading the serving line for the pizza party.
