Brooksville Pre-Rally Report
BUSHNELL, FLORIDA
Reservations for the second SEA pre-rally were disappointing, and when I reported that we had only twelve coaches signed up, a very unpleasant woman in the Blueberry Hill Campground cancelled our reservations, refusing, even, to refund deposits made by other members who had made their own reservations there.
Fortunately, the Red Barn Campground across the street would accommodate us and did.
We held our usual morning coffee and get-togethers and our afternoon social hours. A 50/50 raffle was held to pay for the donuts. Bob Fortnam was kind enough to loan us the use of his ten-cup coffee maker and Cheryl Adams made up another ten cups for a refill. Saturday evening found us at Sonny's Barbecue for ribs and beans and other barbecued delicacies. Betty Robicheau did a masterful job of ordering ten pizzas from Hungry Howie's and we enjoyed a Sunday evening pizza party. Unlike last year, there was no Super Bowl to watch and no rain either. Enough cash was raised from the 50/50 and pizza collection that we were able to have a 2nd pizza party at Brooksville! Ed Dressell's sister and her husband, Barbara and Karl Krawczyk had parked their coach near us at the Red Barn on their way to the SEA rally. Neither knew the other was there until Barbara saw Ed and Michelle walk by on their way to social hour. We invited them to join us for our get-togethers and to park with us at Brooksville. Before the Brooksville rally was over, Barbara had her membership application and fee in the mail to Glenn and Bobbie!
7:00 Monday morning found us lined up in the campground's field for the drive down 1-75 to the Brooksville exit. Larry Adams handed out the caravan number sheets and Bucky Buck moved us out to the SEA at 7:45. By then, we were joined by more member coaches, and we parked with twenty-two at the SEA rally.
A special thank you is in order to Melanie at the Red Barn. She was the one who said, "We will take care of you", after we were crudely cancelled at Blueberry Hill.
