GRANITE STATERS’ RALLY

Fall Rally at Newfound R V Park
October 1 - 3, 2004
Rt 3A - Bridgewater NH

Hosts: Geoff & Fran Blair and Bill & Peggy McShea

45 coaches filled the brand new Newfound RV Park the weekend of October 1-3, which, for the most / part, was under fairly decent skies. There were 16 coaches arriving early on Thursday enjoying a spectacular autumn day on Friday. By Suppertime, all sites were filled and we were off and running into a busy weekend. Friday night was highlighted with a presentation by Marty Engstrom with an audio / video program about spending some time (38 years) on Mount Washington as a broadcast engineer and weather reporter for channel 8. Saturday there was an open house of some of the coaches, a pizza and salad buffet (with 31 pizzas!) followed by Bill & Peggy McShea's Wild Alaskan Adventure presentation oftheir recent 3 month trip north.
The folks at Newfound RV Park worked hard to make sure their first rally was a success and we thank them for all their effort. There were a dozen or so other businesses who provided nearly $1,600.00 in door prizes and NH Coach and Camper in Rumney provided the breakfast for all for both days! We thank all of those businesses who helped to make this rally a success. Thanks, too, to those "Granite Staters" who helped out including Ed Carpenter who allowed the hosts a little extra sleeping time by turning on the coffee! Don and Sandy Percy stepped up to the plate by putting together a fun "Autumn Leaves" game providing prizes for a number of "Granite Staters". This is something they created on their own and asked if they could do it for us. It was a real hit!
As always, there were a number of folks who grabbed brooms, did errands and offered lots of assistance. The real thanks go out to co-hosts Bill and Peggy McShea. What a team!! This rally couldn't have happened without everything they did beginning almost a year ago and in the meantime with lots of e-mail back and fourth to Alaska filled with lots of ideas and words of wisdom providing much needed help to this first time rally host couple. We truly can't thank Bill and Peggy enough. Fran and I really enjoyed being a part of putting this rally together and hope everyone enjoyed it as much as did we.

As always, there was a whole lot of great food brought to the happy hours but someone felt this recipe deserved Newsletter status! (Although we can't remember who dopped it off! - perhaps someone can remind us)

THREE CHEESE DIP
Saute onion and 5 garlic cloves
ADD and toss lightly 2 packages of well-drained spinach and a small can of artichokes, chopped
Cream 4 ounces of cream cheese, 1 stick of butter and 8 ounces of sour cream
Put onion, garlic, spinach and artichoke on the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan
Put the cream cheese mixture over it
Mix together Monterey Jack and Parmesan cheese and spread over the top.
Heat 15 minutes at 350. WHAT A TREAT!
